Unprecedented Financial Performance Amid AI Boom

NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA) has reported extraordinary financial results for the second quarter of fiscal 2026, ended July 27, 2025. Fueled by the accelerating adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), NVIDIA posted quarterly revenue of $46.7 billion, representing a 6% sequential increase and an astonishing 56% rise year-over-year.

The company’s net income surged to $26.4 billion, up 59% compared to Q2 of fiscal 2025. Diluted earnings per share (EPS) reached $1.08 GAAP and $1.05 non-GAAP, far exceeding analyst expectations and further signaling the robust demand and strategic execution driving NVIDIA’s continuing dominance in the semiconductor industry.

Data Center and Blackwell Platform: Engines of Growth

NVIDIA’s Data Center segment—the cornerstone of the company’s growth—delivered revenue of $41.1 billion in Q2, up 5% from the prior quarter and a year-over-year jump of 56%. Central to this surge was rapid market adoption of NVIDIA’s new Blackwell platform, which posted a remarkable 17% sequential revenue growth in the data center business.

The Blackwell Ultra, NVIDIA’s latest AI accelerator, marks a generational leap in compute power and energy efficiency. Founder and CEO Jensen Huang highlighted, “Blackwell is the AI platform the world has been waiting for, delivering an exceptional generational leap—production of Blackwell Ultra is ramping at full speed, and demand is extraordinary.” The scale of these deployments is evident as hyperscale cloud providers, research institutions, and major enterprises worldwide integrate Blackwell for both AI model training and large-scale inference.

The significance of NVIDIA’s rack-scale NVLink solution, introduced with the Blackwell platform, cannot be overstated. It enables unprecedented compute density and bandwidth, which is critical for the new era of “reasoning AI” models powering applications from generative AI to advanced scientific research.

AI Infrastructure Leadership

During the quarter, NVIDIA announced the arrival of the RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPU to popular enterprise servers, with industry leaders such as Disney, Foxconn, and TSMC among the first wave of adopters. The company is also collaborating globally on giga-scale AI supercomputers, supporting deployments in the US (Doudna), Europe (JUPITER, Blue Lion, Isambard), and Japan (FugakuNEXT).

Further reinforcing its global reach, NVIDIA is working with major European governments on AI infrastructure, including the launch of the world’s first industrial AI cloud designed to transform European manufacturing.

Expanding Product Innovation and Market Segments

Gaming and AI PC Growth

Gaming revenue for the quarter reached $4.3 billion, climbing 14% from Q1 and 49% year-over-year. The introduction of the GeForce RTX 5060—the fastest-ramping x60-class GPU ever—and expansion of DLSS 4 technology across over 175 games and apps has cemented NVIDIA’s leadership in gaming graphics and AI-powered experiences.

NVIDIA’s GeForce NOW cloud gaming platform continues to grow, now offering over 4,500 titles with the new Install-to-Play feature, and the company is partnering with OpenAI to optimize newest open-weight AI models for RTX GPUs, paving the way for rapid, local AI inference at the consumer level.

Professional Visualization and Robotics

The Professional Visualization segment saw revenue of $601 million, up 18% quarter-over-quarter and 32% from the prior year, as professionals transition to Blackwell-powered RTX GPUs and new advances like the Omniverse platform and AI model acceleration.

In automotive and robotics, NVIDIA DRIVE and Jetson AGX Thor are powering the next generation of autonomous vehicles and general-purpose robots. Automotive revenue hit $586 million, reflecting growing market traction, with wins such as the End-to-End Driving at Scale category at the 2025 Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition conference and broad deployments with partners in manufacturing and mobility.

Financial Strength and Capital Return

NVIDIA’s balance sheet remains robust, with $56.8 billion in cash, cash equivalents, and marketable securities as of the end of Q2. The company returned $24.3 billion to shareholders in the first half of the year through share repurchases and dividends, and the board has approved an additional $60.0 billion for future buybacks.

Gross margins stood at 72.4% GAAP (72.7% non-GAAP), illustrating NVIDIA’s ability to maintain profitability through scale and effective cost controls despite industry headwinds and supply chain constraints. Operating income climbed to $28.4 billion GAAP ($30.2 billion non-GAAP), with expenses reflecting ongoing investment in R&D and infrastructure growth globally.

A notable aspect this quarter was the impact of US export restrictions on H20 product shipments to China. There were no H20 sales to China during Q2, with NVIDIA benefiting from a $180 million release of previously reserved H20 inventory, instead redirecting sales to other international markets. Despite these challenges, NVIDIA’s global demand remained unwavering.

Outlook: Continuing Strong Momentum

For the third quarter of fiscal 2026, NVIDIA has issued an outlook for revenue of $54.0 billion, plus or minus 2%, demonstrating continued strong demand for AI and data center products. Gross margins are expected to edge higher to 73.3% GAAP and 73.5% non-GAAP, with operating expenses anticipated at $5.9 billion GAAP and $4.2 billion non-GAAP as investments in AI infrastructure, R&D, and talent persist.

The company, with its AI hardware and software stack, is well-positioned amidst a competitive landscape that includes AMD, Intel, and startups like Cerebras and Graphcore, all vying for a share of the generative AI and high-performance compute markets. NVIDIA’s strong execution, innovation cadence, and unmatched software ecosystem, however, continue to give it a decisive edge.

Conclusion: NVIDIA’s AI Era Leadership

NVIDIA’s Q2 FY2026 performance underscores the company’s foundational role in the global shift to AI-driven infrastructure. With the Blackwell platform ramping across cloud, enterprise, gaming, professional, and automotive markets, NVIDIA has not only set new financial records but also advanced the boundaries of what is possible in accelerated computing. The company’s capital return program and forward guidance signal continued confidence in the enormous addressable market for AI and high-performance computing technologies.

As governments and industries around the world invest in sovereign AI capabilities and advanced R&D, NVIDIA stands as the clear leader poised to benefit from and shape the next generational shifts in technology and the digital economy.
