Bogotá, August 30, 2025 – Avianca, one of Latin America’s largest and oldest airlines, has revealed new staff uniforms as part of an ambitious rebranding and modernization strategy designed to unify its employee image and invigorate customer experience. The uniforms will be adopted by over 10,000 staff members across operational, customer service, and cargo divisions starting December 2025.

The uniform launch comes as Avianca strives to reinforce its market position in an increasingly competitive aviation landscape, where passenger expectations for service and aesthetics continue to evolve.

Emphasizing Brand Identity and Staff Engagement

The newly designed uniforms, developed in collaboration with leading Latin American designers and textile engineers, focus on increased comfort, sustainability, and versatility — reflecting a trend among global airlines to modernize staff appearance while addressing operational needs. Avianca’s management emphasized that the wardrobe update is more than a visual overhaul; it is integral to the brand’s ongoing strategy to improve workplace morale and customer service.

“Our new uniforms symbolize Avianca’s commitment to innovation and care — for both our staff and our passengers,” commented Adrian Neuhauser, Avianca’s CEO. “We’re investing in our team’s comfort and pride, enabling them to deliver the best possible service experience.” Modern fabrics, functional accessories, and a color palette combining the classic Avianca red with contemporary touches have all been lauded by staff during company-wide reveal events in Bogotá and other key hubs.

Modernization and Sustainability at the Forefront

The rollout of the new uniforms aligns with sustainability initiatives across the company. All textiles used are certified eco-friendly, integrating recycled materials to reduce the airline’s environmental impact. Production involved local suppliers across Colombia, supporting regional economic development and minimizing the carbon footprint associated with global logistics.

Sustainability is a growing theme in aviation. According to IATA’s 2025 Global Outlook, nearly 80% of airlines surveyed are taking steps to reduce the environmental impacts of their operations, with uniform redesign becoming a popular opportunity to introduce responsible practices.

Competitive Differentiation in Latin America

The decision to update Avianca’s uniforms reflects not only an internal transformation but also a response to heightened competitive pressures. Rival airlines, such as LATAM and Azul, have also recently invested in uniform redesigns as part of broader portfolio enhancements and customer-centric initiatives. In this context, a refreshed, cohesive visual identity is seen as a critical tool for improving customer perception and differentiating Avianca in a crowded market.

Avianca’s evolution goes beyond dress codes: in the past two years, the airline has undertaken a fleet renewal program, introduced new cabin experiences, expanded regional routes, and improved on-time performance. These changes have attracted positive attention from both business and leisure travelers, as reflected in the company’s steady increase in passenger numbers. In Q2 2025, Avianca reported a 12% year-on-year growth in passengers carried, despite ongoing macroeconomic headwinds in the hemisphere.

Staff-First Approach to Customer Experience

Internal surveys and industry studies consistently find that empowered, well-presented staff are pivotal to outstanding customer service. Avianca’s new uniform program was developed with extensive employee input through workshops and prototype testing over the last year. Wearability in different climates, ease of movement, and distinct looks for specialized roles (e.g., ground, cabin, cargo) were key considerations. Qualitative feedback from staff highlighted feelings of inclusion and professional pride associated with the collaborative design process.

“When employees feel valued and look their best, passengers notice – it sets the tone for the journey from check-in to arrival,” noted María Alejandra Alvarado, Avianca’s Customer Experience Director. “This launch isn’t just about fabric and tailoring, but about living our renewed brand values day-to-day.”

Looking Ahead: A New Chapter for Avianca

Founded in 1919, Avianca is Latin America’s oldest operating airline and has undergone significant changes in the past five years, including mergers, a financial restructuring process following the pandemic, and digital transformation efforts. The new uniforms are evidence of Avianca’s forward-thinking orientation as it prepares to celebrate its 106th anniversary in 2025.

Looking forward, the company continues to invest in digital solutions, sustainability, and strategic partnerships. Industry analysts suggest Avianca’s ability to adapt — as symbolized by initiatives like the new uniforms — will be instrumental for its success as the airline sector evolves amidst fluctuating demand and economic volatility.

The uniform update will roll out in December 2025, with a company-wide launch event planned at Bogotá’s El Dorado International Airport. Passengers and aviation enthusiasts throughout Latin America can expect to see the new look in action during the peak holiday travel period. Avianca is leveraging this opportunity not just to refresh its image, but to underscore its commitment to continuous improvement, responsible practices, and excellence in customer service.
